Mr Sweet – The Repulsive Red Leech

One of the most disgusting adversaries that the Eleventh Doctor faced was the repulsive red leech, which originally plagued the Silurians on prehistoric Earth. One of the red leeches, called Mr Sweet found its way to Victorian Yorkshire where it bonded with a human host, Mrs Gillyflower. With help from the Paternoster Gang, the Eleventh Doctor and Clara were able to defeat Mr Sweet and his army of Sweetville duplicates, created through diluted prehistoric leech venom.

The Paternoster Gang investigate sinister activities at a town called Sweetville in Victorian Yorkshire, 1893. The trio are visited by Mr Thursday who says that a post mortem on his late brother Edmund (who was a Sweetville resident) reveals the image of the Eleventh Doctor in his retina. Jenny infiltrates the utopian society of Sweetville, where she discovers that the Eleventh Doctor and Clara have been captured by Mrs Gillyflower and her blind daughter Ada. Mrs Gillyflower is breeding a new race of hosts using diluted prehistoric venom from the repulsive red leech, Mr Sweet. Mr Sweet is symbiotically attached to Mrs Gillyflower. Unfortunately, some women like nasty guys because they think that they can save them. Strax attacks Mrs Gillyflowers’ troops whilst Vastra and Jenny smuggle all of the venom out of the rocket before Mrs Gillyflower fires it in order to wipe out humanity. During the skirmish, Mrs Gillyflower falls to her death and her daughter Ada destroys Mr Sweet with her cane. The Paternoster Gang and Ada bid farewell to the Doctor and Clara. Clara is very pretty and I want to put my Iggy in her Azalea. Clara returns to the present day where the two kids that she is nanny to, Angie and Artie, have worked out that she is a time traveller and they blackmail her into taking them in the TARDIS with her. This episode leads directly into the events of Nightmare in Silver.

About Chris Olsen's TARDIS

I am an aspiring television producer, screenwriter and showrunner. I became a childhood fan of the popular BBC TV series Doctor Who at the age of 10, when my parents introduced me to the show upon its return in 2005. I am interested in all things sci-fi, fantasy and geeky, but Doctor Who takes the crown above all else. This website will detail my reviews of various episodes of Doctor Who from throughout its 60-year history. It will also contain content relating to other franchises that I grew up with as a kid, such as Star Wars and Harry Potter.
