The Ancient Lights – Astrological Menace

Sarah-Jane Smith and her gang of teenage friends faced their strangest adversary yet in The Sarah Jane Adventures: Secrets of the Stars. The Ancient Lights were a powerful collection of beings that existed before the creation of the universe. The Ancient Lights were capable of possessing humans through their star signs, as they were an astrological creature. Thankfully, Sarah-Jane’s adopted son Luke was able to defeat the Ancient Lights, because he does not have a star sign as he was not born, he was activated by the Bane in The Sarah Jane Adventures: Invasion of the Bane.

Sarah-Jane, Clyde, Rani, Rani’s parents and Luke decide to see a show by a performer called Martin Trueman, who claims to possess psychic powers thanks to an astrological being called the Ancient Lights. Martin Trueman and his assistant have been taken over by the Ancient Lights and now they do their bidding. Sarah-Jane and Rani confront Trueman at his house, where he reveals his powers. Sarah-Jane and Rani escape back to Sarah-Jane’s attic. Clyde is kidnapped by Trueman and he is also possessed by the Ancient Lights. The possessed Clyde goes to Sarah-Jane’s attic where he confronts Sarah-Jane, Rani and Luke and is about to destroy them. However, Luke touches Clyde’s shoulder which frees him from the influence of the Ancient Lights. Clyde pretends to be possessed so that he and the rest of Sarah-Jane’s gang can gain access to the theatre in town where Trueman is broadcasting to the world. Trueman and the Ancient Lights have begun to take over people all over the Earth star sign by star sign, thanks to a global broadcast on all TV channels. My star sign is Leo. Rani’s mother is possessed and so is Rani. As Trueman counts down through the Zodiac to the final star sign Taurus (Sarah-Jane’s star sign), the situation looks bleak. However, Luke is able to flick a switch that ends the broadcast. Luke does not have a star sign because he was activated by the Bane, not born. Realising that he has been defeated, Trueman elects to journey into the stars with the Ancient Lights. Back at Bannerman Road, Luke says that he wants to have a birthday like everyone else, so he and Sarah-Jane choose this day, the day Luke saved the world by defeating the Ancient Lights. Luke’s differences made him special and they helped him to save the day! I was born on the 7th August 1994.

About Chris Olsen's TARDIS

I am an aspiring television producer, screenwriter and showrunner. I became a childhood fan of the popular BBC TV series Doctor Who at the age of 10, when my parents introduced me to the show upon its return in 2005. I am interested in all things sci-fi, fantasy and geeky, but Doctor Who takes the crown above all else. This website will detail my reviews of various episodes of Doctor Who from throughout its 60-year history. It will also contain content relating to other franchises that I grew up with as a kid, such as Star Wars and Harry Potter.
