The Uvodni – Bring me Children, Mr Grantham!

The Uvodni were a warrior race that were engaged in an endless war with the Malakh. The Uvodni General Kudlak was in fact being duped by his own battle computer, which had fooled him into believing that the war was still going on. An armistice had been signed with the Malakh ten years previously, which meant that Kudlak could stop kidnapping Earth children using a laser tag game facility (Combat 3000) to turn them into warriors. This episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures was an important development in Clyde’s friendship with Luke.

Sarah-Jane’s son Luke and his friend Clyde are concerned about the disappearance of their school friend Lance. Sarah-Jane and Maria trace Lance’s vanishing to a laser tag championship called Combat 3000 in London. However, they are too late to save Clyde and Luke, who are beamed aboard an alien spaceship (staffed by Slabs, as seen in Smith and Jones) after winning the tournament. Maria and Sarah-Jane discover that Mr Grantham, who runs the laser tag facility is employed by a Uvodni alien General Kudlak. Kudlak is recruiting children from the laser tag events to fight in the Uvodni’s endless war with the Malakh. However, Luke discovers that the war ended ten years ago, and that the battle computer has fooled Kudlak into believing that the war with the Malakh wasn’t over. The enraged General Kudlak destroys the battle computer and releases Sarah-Jane and the other prisoners. Sarah-Jane, Luke, Maria and Clyde reunite Lance with his mother.

About Chris Olsen's TARDIS

I am an aspiring television producer, screenwriter and one day I want to be the Doctor Who showrunner. I became a childhood fan of the popular BBC TV series Doctor Who at the age of 10, when my parents introduced me to the show upon its return in 2005. I am interested in all things sci-fi, fantasy and geeky, but Doctor Who takes the crown above all else. This website will detail my reviews of various episodes of Doctor Who from throughout its 60-year history. It will also contain content relating to other franchises that I grew up with as a kid, such as Star Wars and Harry Potter.
