Drahvins, Rills and Chumblies – the Strange Inhabitants of Galaxy 4

During their excursion in Galaxy 4, the First Doctor, Steven and Vicki arrived on an unnamed planet where they encountered two different races in conflict with each other. The blonde-haired, aryan Drahvins were from an ultra feminist society on a distant planet where men were second class citizens. I am a feminist and I LOVE women so so so much! 🥰 The Rills were disgusting slug-like creatures but they were peaceful and their ship was attacked by the aggressive Drahvins. The Doctor discovered that the planet had less than two days until it exploded. Both the Drahvins and the Rills wanted to escape beforehand. This presented the Doctor with the challenge of which race he should choose to help. This Doctor Who story imparted an important moral lesson that you should never judge by appearances.

The First Doctor, Vicki and Steven land on an unnamed planet in the distant Galaxy 4. Two rival spaceships have crash landed on the planet and the race is on as to who can repair their ship first. The Drahvins claim that the Rills shot them down, but in reality the misandrist Drahvins (led by the aggressive Maaga) attacked the Rills first. The Rills use cylindrical robots called Chumblies to do their manual work and to intimidate the Drahvins. After returning to the TARDIS, the Doctor and Steven discover that the planet will explode in less than two days. The Doctor is faced with choosing to help the disgusting but peaceful Rills or the beautiful but aggressive Drahvins. The Doctor ultimately chooses to help the Rills, repairing their ship in time for them to escape the exploding planet. The evil Maaga is destroyed along with the rest of the planet.

About Chris Olsen's TARDIS

I am an aspiring television producer, screenwriter and showrunner. I became a childhood fan of the popular BBC TV series Doctor Who at the age of 10, when my parents introduced me to the show upon its return in 2005. I am interested in all things sci-fi, fantasy and geeky, but Doctor Who takes the crown above all else. This website will detail my reviews of various episodes of Doctor Who from throughout its 60-year history. It will also contain content relating to other franchises that I grew up with as a kid, such as Star Wars and Harry Potter.
